Our Commercial Plumbing Washroom Installation Project

Our client asked us to convert an empty meeting room office space into a male washroom complete with toilet and urinal in order to create extra facilities for staff.

The completed facilities consisted of a new toilet with cubicle, new wash hand basin and taps and new urinal. We managed this entire project from design through to managing all trades and project handover. This included our plumbers carrying out the first and second fix plumbing on this project.

Who the project was for

This project was completed directly for our customer www.partstown.co.uk who are the UK’s leading distributor of OEM spares parts, accessories and consumables for the catering, refrigeration, coffee, laundry and vending sectors. The location we worked at was in Heywood, Greater Manchester.

They instructed us to quote and project manage the entire project from start to finish which included coordinating all trades involved in this type of fit out project.

We have been completing commercial plumbing projects for clients in the North West for over 18 years assisting with design, advice and installation.

The Commercial Plumbing Project

For this project it was our Project Manager who designed the new facility in consultation with the client. We discuss the practicality of what the client is trying to achieve and then provide a quotation and work schedule based on these instructions.

Following this, we will go through our quotation process which involves:

  • Obtaining costs for the specified sanitaryware, toilet cubicles and panelling and costs from other trades which are required such as joiners and electricians.

Working out if the material choices are suitable and discussing this with our client.

Once a project has been confirmed, we then prepare our health and safety risk assessment and method statement and plan our programme of works.

For this project, it was originally an office space, so once this was emptied we attended to remove all the existing office installation and then complete our first fix plumbing which consists of:

  • Hot and cold services
  • Running pipework within the ceiling to bring to the position for the new toilet, wash hand basin and urinal
  • Running new above ground waste services

Once the individual toilet cubicle had been created by our joiner, we then carry out our second fix plumbing which included the installation of the following items:

  • New toilet installation with freestanding toilet cubicle
  • New porcelain urinal pod and cistern with privacy screen
  • New wash hand basin and taps
  • New hand dryer
  • Testing all installations

The joiner was then instructed to complete all second fix joinery which included new poly floor coverings and full decoration throughout including privacy frosting to windows.

Our project manager then attends and checks over everything before the final handover.

How this project benefited our client

This client now has an additional toilet and wash area for the male members of their staff utilising an unused office space.

This creates a better work environment for the businesses staff with additional and clean toilet, urinal and washing facilities.

How much does this type of project cost?

The cost of a complete refurbishment project is dependent on a number of factors. You need to factor in the cost of the design and project management of the project and then the materials and different trades involved for this to be completed to a high standard.

The best way to find out the costs involved is to discuss your requirements with a member of our team and we can work with you to find the design and products that would suit your budget and needs.
