Both commercial and industrial plumbing involves working in buildings and properties that are used by numerous people throughout all hours of the day. 

Although commercial and industrial plumbing are terms that are often used interchangeably, there is a difference between the two.

What does industrial plumbing mean?

Industrial plumbing is quite similar to commercial plumbing, however, it is on a much larger scale and involves dealing with a large network of complex pipework and plumbing systems. 

Industrial plumbing is the next step above from commercial plumbing, and refers to work on a very large scale.

What is commercial in plumbing?

Commercial plumbing refers to the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems in commercial establishments such as restaurants, cafes and doctors offices.

Commercial plumbing typically consists of working on a plumbing issue located in one area, rather than that of a whole building. For example, smaller scale issues such as fixing leaks and repairing toilets. 

Commercial plumbing can also be a larger project, such as installing completely new toilets, disabled toilets, urinals, kitchen areas and shower and hand wash areas.

What is the difference between commercial and industrial plumbing?

Where commercial plumbing relates more towards things such as fitting bathrooms in hotels or fixing leaks, industrial plumbing refers to the larger plumbing network which is implemented in these large buildings and environments. 

Industrial plumbers work with high-grade fixtures, often in buildings which have multiple floors with numerous toilets and sinks, such as high rise office buildings, factories, hospitals and schools.
