From Empty Warehouse to Staff Welfare Facility

Our Commercial Plumbing Installation Project

Our client asked us to provide a quotation and work schedule for converting a large empty warehouse into an employee welfare facility at their clients head office. The current welfare facilities for employees were spread across numerous areas on their site.

Using an empty warehouse, an additional staff welfare facility was created. The completed facilities consisted of new toilets, new disabled toilets, urinals, kitchen area and shower and hand wash area. We completed all the first and second fix commercial plumbing within the new space.

Who the project was for

Our client is an interior construction specialist based in North Manchester. They provide the complete package of refurbishment and relocation services for their clients and therefore need reliable trades to provide their knowledge and skills in order to complete their projects.

We have been completing commercial plumbing projects for clients in the North West for over 17 years assisting with design, advice and installation.

The Commercial Plumbing Project

Most projects start with a set of drawings and specifications which we will review. We then have an initial site visit with our client in order to discuss the practicality of the design.

Following this, we will go through our quotation process which involves:

  • Obtaining costs for the specified sanitaryware and other materials.
  • Working out if the material choices are suitable and discussing this with our client.

Once a project has been confirmed, we then prepare our health and safety risk assessment and method statement and plan our programme of works.

For this project, it was a complete empty shell, so we attended and carried out our first fix plumbing which consists of:

  • Hot and cold services
  • Running pipework from the original mains position
  • Running new above ground waste services

 

Once the individual areas and structural walls had been created by our client, we then carry out our second fix plumbing which included the installation of the following items:

  • New toilet installation
  • New bespoke stainless steel urinal trough
  • New shower area
  • Under counter water heaters
  • Kitchen facilities
  • Testing all installations
  • Chlorination is carried out with certification issued

Our project manager then attends and checks over everything before the final handover.

Their client is a lab-based industry and therefore they need to wash down at the end of their shift.

Before, the new welfare facility this client had to ‘de-suit’ in their staff car park before being able to wash. Now, they have a better working environment where they can de-suit in their location which saves time and is safer.
